HOW TO STYLE YOUR SLIP DRESS THIS SPRING/SUMMER

After numerous false alarms, the sun is finally out and here to stay! Well at least for the next two days or so according to my trusty iPhone weather app. Yes the weather is all anyone seems to be talking about at the moment but when you’re promised weather nicer than Australia’s Bondi beach, you better get excited!

I’m currently on my morning commute to work as I write this and as the sun hits my face through the windows I can feel myself getting excited and energised. There really is just something about sunny weather that makes you want to go out and face the day and put your best foot forward. Let’s not forget it’s also the perfect excuse to wear all those spring summer clothes that we’ve been buying in hopes of days just like this!

This River Island slip dress is one such item I bought with hopeful anticipation of sunnier skies and t-shirt friendly temperatures. It’s so simple, easy and wonderfully versatile that at only £28 - it would be rude not to get it. I love it’s length and the sweet tie detail at the front which makes a seemingly simple dress quite interesting. I styled it here with a t-shirt layered underneath, some obnoxious sunnies and some man repelling trainers and I absolutely love this outfit! It’s very me - if me was to be embodied in a slip dress; little bit serious and a  lot-a-bit fun!

I’ve also been consciously buying items lately that can work for more than one occasion and this dress is something I bought with work, chill and play in mind. I can wear this outfit as is to work if I wanted (yay for creative industry flexible dress codes) or I could swap out the trainers and t-shirt for a button up and some block heel court shoes if I want to look a little bit more professional. I’m also going out-out with my girls to the Birmingham launch of Dirty Martini and guess which LBD is getting worn for the occasion!? This one! I’m going to wear it without any layers underneath and accessorise with some gold jewellery and sparkly gold sandals. If this dress isn’t the pinnacle of an item that can take you from day to night then I seriously don’t know what is! Do you like this LBD? How would you style it for work, chill or play!?
